I cannot verbalize why, but I just love this song. I don't know much about Home Video so let me know if you have favorites that I should check out. In the meantime, here is my current favorite song at the moment: I Can Make You Feel It.

Miss Jess and her Hot Mess
I grew up in Austin, and EVERYONE is a musician in Austin. It’s to the point where when you meet someone and they ask what you do, if you say you’re in a band they’ll most likely roll their eyes and ask you what else you do. It’s hard having a ton of friends in bands because you’re always being asked to go to shows, and then there’s the other thing: Sometimes your friends suck.Read more...

    Best Break Up Songs

Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright- Bob Dylan wrote it, but I prefer the Johnny Cash version: I love the undercurrent of bitterness in the lyrics of this song, and Cash’s baritone gives just the right tension between the nonchalance and passive aggressive “Screw you.” My favorite line is, “I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind. I coulda done better, but I don’t mind. You just kind of wasted my precious time. Don’t thin… Continue

It was a great concert and while some renditions of the music did not age as smoothly, I never heard Maneater sound better. I also learned about "Live From Daryl's House", a monthly webcast of Hall playing with musical guests of many genres. Check it out and let me know what you… Continue

Who wants to be a DJ?

This one's ladies only, sorry fellas.

Tonight at the Black Cat Girls Rock! DC is hosting an Intro to DJing class at 9 pm at the Backstage portion of the club. It's 5 bucks, but proceeds go to help support Girls Rock! DC, which is a girls-only rock and roll camp.

    An Evening at Wolf Trap

Last week I posted a blog about the wonders of picnicking. I am happy to report I was able to experience my first picnic this summer last night at Wolf Trap. It was wonderful, even in a thunderstorm. The venue was packed with fans both old and young, there to celebrate the music of composer John Williams. With the familiar and reputable scores of movies such as Star Wars, Jaws, and E.T., Williams' musical talents shined through the playing of the National Symphony Orchestra with Guest Conductor,… Continue
